Ralph van Put
Why running and traveling is my joy and life
At high-school I was an active kid already; full of energy and curious about all things around. At our school we did sport every day; basebal, soccer, athletics, andsoforth. There was a period when you could find me at the tennis court too. It went quite wel, but stopped after 3 year because I could not reach ‘the top’ of our tennis club. At the age of 20 years, I discovered the fun of walking, hiking and running. With some friends we organised some hiking weekends at various National Parks.
Never thought these Hiking weekends were the start of my nickname “Ralph van Put the-walk-always-faster-man” 😉
How it all started
First running experience
When I was 19 years old, our ‘hiking boys group’ started subscribing for a local charity event with a walk of 10 miles. We bearly excersized and ended up in the top-20 of the finishers. That’s when we decided to get better, train more and just go for it…
At first it were just some miles on the running track, but from my 20’th it started to get more serious. I did the New York Marathon and set the goal to do more Marathons at several countries in the world.
